Greetings, Anchorage friends!
It is hard to believe that the 2017 Autumn Classics are already here! We are so excited to bring you the best that chamber music has to offer this week and next. In case you haven’t been following us on social media, here is what you have to look forward to this week:
On Thursday, a few of our guest artists will pay a visit to the Anchorage Museum, where they will perform selections from the upcoming weekend’s programs. Music begins at 12:15pm. This concert is free with admission to the museum.
On Friday evening, pianist Navah Perlman will present a one-woman show featuring works by Scarlatti, Schumann, Prokofiev, Beethoven, and Chopin. This performance, entitled “A Musical Memoir,” will be accompanied by photos and stories from Navah’s journey through life and music. Music begins at 7:30pm in the UAA Recital Hall.
The first half of Saturday evening’s program will feature chamber music works by Bach and Arensky, performed by Nikita Borisevich (violin), Martin She (viola), Jia Kim (cello), and Zuill Bailey (cello). Following intermission, pianist and festival favorite Natasha Paremski will perform two stunning solo piano works by Chopin and Prokofiev. Music begins at 7:30pm in the UAA Recital Hall. For those of you who cannot make it to the concert, there will be an open dress rehearsal in the recital hall at 10am.
On Sunday, the concert will begin with a performance of Mozart’s “Piano Quartet No. 1 in G Minor,” followed by an incredible violin solo by Nikita Borisevich. The program will close with Brahms’ “Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor.” Please note that this concert begins at 4pm in the UAA Recital Hall, not 7:30pm.
